Guild Guide Part 4: Get Involved

Uni is about so much more than a degree. Make the most of your time at UWA by getting involved in campus life - it's a great way to meet new people outside of your classes, build up your skills and experience, and have fun while you do it!

Faculty Societies

Every school (formerly faculties) has its own society, known collectively as FacSocs. These societies sit on the Education Council and represent the students studying in that discipline. Through your FacSoc you can get involved in things like Inter-Faculty Sport, study nights, social events and more.

We recommend getting involved with or at least following your FacSoc on social media to stay up to date with anything important regarding your faculty.

With over 160 Guild-affiliated clubs and societies at UWA covering a broad range of interests, you’re bound to find the club and community for you. Find the clubs you're keen to check out on Facebook or Instagram and give them a follow, so you never miss an event or an opportunity to get involved. If you're looking to expand your skills and experience while at UWA, club committees and executive positions can be great leadership opportunities.

The best way to join a club is to visit them and sign up at Club Carnival on the Tuesday of Week 2. Most of the clubs will have stalls, giving you the chance to see everything on offer!

Guild Departments

We’ve got 12 Guild Departments representing the full spectrum of different campus groups and communities. The Departments run all sorts of initiatives and events throughout the year to improve the UWA student experience and connect students to each other. You can get involved by liking our Facebook pages to keep up to date, or emailing the relevant student reps

Keep an eye out for opportunities to join Guild committees, where you can have a say on issues affecting all students and be a part of improving the student experience at the ground level!
Want to take your involvement even further? The Guild elections run in Semester 2 each year and provide an opportunity for students to be elected to the Guild Council.

What’s on?

You can keep up to date with what’s coming up by following us on Facebook and Instagram @uwastudentguild; checking out the Guild Events calendar; or in Guild Weekly, our weekly e-newsletter sent out during semester to all Guild members!
