A list of 24hr mental health and counselling resources and services to access, compiled by the Guild Student Assist team.

Lifeline | 13 11 14

A national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. Call 13 11 14.

Mental health emergency response line (MHERL) | 1300 555 788

This service is available 24 hours a day. These teams are made up of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, nursing and allied health staff. They provide after-hours assessment and specialist intervention for people experiencing a mental health emergency. Rapid response to mental health emergencies is provided across the metropolitan area, from Two Rocks in the north to Peel and Waroona in the south.

These services should be used by people involved in a mental health emergency in the community. These might include:

  • Individuals who feel that they require urgent assistance
  • Families or carers of those with a mental illness
  • Members of the general public who witness a mental health crisis and require assistance
  • Health professionals
  • Community welfare service providers

This service provides online and telephone support and counselling to young people 12-25 and their family and friends. They can help you deal with a broad range of issues like bullying, drug and alcohol issues, depression and anxiety, relationships, concerns about a friend, fitting in and isolation.
