Effective Altruism UWA (EA-UWA) is a new student club focused on using evidence and reason to do the most good possible with our limited resources.
We run educational workshops, discussions, regular socials and professional networking. We promote effective giving, evidence-based policy and smart career planning.
Doing the most good means working on the right problem. We focus on problems that rank highest on objective criteria of: importance (scale x severity), neglectedness and solvability. Because of this framework the most popular problems in the EA community are global health & extreme poverty, factory farming, climate change and global catastrophic risks (e.g., nuclear weapons, pandemics and advanced artificial intelligence).
Effective altruism is a new global social movement. Learn more about EA ideas by reading the introduction article, watching the introduction video or listening to the introduction podcast.
