The term "plogging" is derived from two words: jogging and the Swedish phrase for pick up, plocka upp. The phenomenun, which sees participants pick up litter as they jog a marathon-type course, began in Sweden in 2016.
In the UWA Plogging run, students will partcipate in a campus run whilst picking up trash. Teams will be given a ‘track’ around campus in which they will need to pass-by key checkpoints to complete the race. However, they are able to deviate throughout the track to collect as much trash as possible.
Prizes will be awarded in two categories: Race Place and Amount of Trash Collected.
