Why do we see evil and suffering around us? Is there a reason for the world to be imperfect? How could a divine being allow this imperfection to continue?

Reconciling the evils in our world with the existence of the divine is a foundational issue for every faith. Many answers, known as theodicies, have been proposed in the philosophy of religion - but are they convincing, unsatisfying, or even unnecessary? This community of inquiry will attempt to answer the question "How can the existence of a divine being be resolved with the existence of evil?", and will discuss a variety of theodicies, examine their merits, and attempt to reach a conclusion on this vital philosophical challenge.

This event will be part of Faith Week, and will be run alongside the UWA Catholic Society, the UWA Muslim Students Association, and the UWA Christian Union.
