UEC’s Mental Health Workshop is an event focused on educating students about various mental health issues, including dealing with them personally, and how to identify and help fellow students and colleagues that may be affected. This event will include attendance of mental health professionals that specialise in different areas such as depression, anxiety, suicide prevention, alcoholism and resilience in the workplace. In small groups, students will rotate through all professional speakers, enabling personalised learning and conversations with each one. By the end of the evening, students will have gained crucial insight into the symptoms of many mental illnesses, and given strategies for prevention and how to help themselves or others who are struggling. This is also an excellent opportunity for students to have face to face interactions with mental health professionals that they may not seek otherwise, and will encourage them to ask questions or seek help.
