Freelancing is a great way to make connections and gain more experience in the music industry whilst providing an additional source of income. All musical careers will have some degree of freelancing work involved, even for those who pursue a full time orchestral or teaching position. Emily Gelineau is an incredibly experienced recording artist, composer and performer who aims to inspire and encourage more players to learn the art of improvisation, and to explore other styles of playing outside Western Art/Classical. She is a successful young musician with a long list of accomplishments and will discuss the business skills necessary including marketing, booking gigs, meetings, updating social media and networking. Additionally, she will provide her insight to the primary performance aspect to thrive as a freelancer. This event aims to provide students with an understanding of the transition from university life to freelancing.
